UPDATE: Due to discrepancies between this article and one posted on SND.org, we have decided to extend the deadline until the following week, January 23 at 11:59 p.m. EST. Sorry for the confusion.
As the industry continues to evolve, so does this contest. We’ve added new categories, changed some and expanded others in an effort to better match the competition with the work you do. For example, we drew new distinctions between breaking news work, features work and continuous use. We clarified our approach to multimedia, video and data entries. And for each category, you can enter work for the web or mobile. The size categories for web entries is also different. The result has something for everyone we hope.
Here are the new and revised categories:
World’s Best –
Breaking or Daily News
- single-subject project
- planned coverage
- non-planned coverage
- data project
- single-story project
- e-book/magazine format
- section or topic
- use of multimedia
- Olympics portfolio
- U.S. election portfolio
We also need your help in identifying the world’s best news websites, tablet and mobile apps.
The jury will evaluate not just the overall design or your site or app, but also how it performs in the categories of this competition: breaking news, features, section templates, data, use of multimedia.
To make a nomination for World’s Best site or app, please follow this link. Please note that this does NOT need to be your organization’s site. It can simply be a site or app that you have always loved the look and feel of and use on a daily basis.
